Nope I agree with you, I used to be a big fan of the whole memory
charm thing but its too easy. I am also understanding more of Neville.
I think Neville's problems lie with his lack of confidence. He sees
himself as a failure, a hugh dissapointment to his family, friends
and teachers. He can't do anything right, and he belives it. He is
surrounded by "if and buts". He is constantly reminded of what happen
to his parents. He doeasn't have anyone he can related to, no one
person he can really turn to. He is lonley and confused and so the
cycle starts again.
What Neville needs is a real mentor, someone to guide him and help
him grow to his full potential and above all, someone who he can
trust and really look upto and then, the sky is the limit!!!
But who? Well, who else do we know that has a confidence crisis.
Snape!
Yep, the same Snape who bullies Neville in potions.
What is she ranting about, I here you say, well keep reading.
I belive part of Snape's problem is that no one really respects him,
no really looks up to him, they all see him as a traitor, teacher or
evil type person. If Neville were to pluck up the courage to ask
snape for help, I think Snape would be flattered (he knows that
Neville is scared of him) that Neville has come to him for help and
will mentor Neville to greatness because Neville will have a parent
type figure, someone he can talk to, some one to help him. in return,
Snape gets the respect and admiration he has longed for, for so long!
Someone who needs him to be there, who would notice if he were not
there, would miss him if he went and someone who he could boast about!

That's my current thoughts anyway.
