Q: I am Confused on the time frame of the books.

My first post here( so forgive me if its been answered before), I am 
unsure of the time frame of the books.

Anyone have any idea?  I seem to get the feeling that its rather late 
50s or 60s, but mention of some of the gifts given to Harry's cousin, 
leaves me a bit confused (I seem to remember something about a 
Playstation video game).

I have seen the movie, read the first three books, and are about half 
done with the 4th. Should finish it sometime soon, I hope, time 
allowing.
