Is Snape a dofus?

I wondered about that too , Athena. It seems he detests children, or 
at least they get on his nerves more easily than the children bother 
the  other professors. My guess would be that perhaps Dumbledore and  
Hogwarts provide him with protection, since he is the one death eater 
that spied on Voldemort.
