I'm not so sure about that statement. One of the things I dearly love 
about the series is that is nothing like the genre books, but are 
good, well-written and well-developed novels. She's created a reality 
that seems honest and true. Her magical community fits in well with 
the current Muggle community, which, in my view, make the books even 
more enjoyable. 

For me, all of this adds up to why the books are so popular with so 
many different people. The books don't feel like a fantasy; they feel 
real and it's only because we have the misfortune to be muggles that 
we aren't participating in it.
