Well, when Quirrell controlled the big troll, he was ready to do so mentally
and physically, probably armed with some hexes, potions ready-made, and
such. I don't blame Quirrell for fainting when the unexpected troll met him
(that is, in his cover story). Think of it: if you are a tiger-tamer, you
don't fear the tiger inside the ring. But if you're taking a leak, and
suddenly the tiger appears next to you, when you don't have a whip or
anything...
