In the states (and I assume britain) middle names are chosen by the parents 
and can be anything that the parents want. My middle name happens to be a 
family name, but is not my mother's maiden name... in fact I don't think I 
know of anyone whose middle name is their mother's maiden name. So, I think 
that Harry's full name is Harry James Potter... no Evans in there at all. :)
