Aside from Ron's declaration that "most wizards are half-blood 
anyway, there seems to be a significant number of muggle-born wizards 
at hogwarts: Justin Finch-Fletchly, Dennis and Colin Creevey, Dean 
Thomas, and many others.  I suspect that part of the reason that 
Wizards survive, apart from inter-marrying, is the large number of 
Muggle-born wizards out there.
