I couldn't agree with you more. At my office, there are many parents
with children ages 6-13 or so. Almost all of them have related, in
conversation, that their children have grown to love books and
reading since they first started reading the Harry Potter books.
In one case, which I find remarkable, the 12-year daughter of a co-
worker, both avid Harry Potter fans, is teaching herself French and
Dutch (the languages of her great-grandparents), by reading
translations of the Harry Potter books in those languages.
