Though pairing Draco and Hermione, imho, would be like Pride and 
Prejudice with Wickham and Elizabeth. :-)

True. But in Canon, the Harry POV has doomed a plausible Draco 
redemption story, I think. We never see the inner workings of 
Slytherin House, that would allow it to come about.
