There is no agreement on the number of teachers, you are
right in saying that. The subject is highlighted on Lexicon
quite well - in fact it's there where I was getting my
information from. And AFAIK there's simply no solution to
this problem as it seems to be one more bug in JKR texts.
My idea about students responsibility has been replied by
some people and it now seems that I got slightly confused
with differences between Western and Russian education
systems. Still my point remained the same - that wizarding
children are more responsible compared to muggle children of
the same age (in average, of course). But this has no direct
connection to your letter, so I close this line.
I keep thinking that it would be great to know that JKR is
going to rewrite the whole series after Book 7, in order to
remove such [several untranslatable Russian words skipped]
errors from them. At the very least that would be fair to
those poor saps who spend lots of time trying to organize
the information from her books for others knowledge.
