Erm, from CS Chapter 12:

'His insides started writhing ... doubled up, he wondered whether he was going to be sick ... a burning sensation spread rapidly from his stomach ... next, bringing him gasping to all fours, came a horrible melting feeling ... his shoulders stretched painfully ... his feet were in agony in shoes four sizes too small'.

Doesn't sound painless to me!!  :-)
