Yes - so the 'old gang' is out and about to find and imprison him - 
then they get Sirius free! Except that Voldemort would use him as 
messenger into Azcaban and gets him out of there...

But Sirius might need help to persuade EVERYONE the fact he's 
innocent to the crime of murdering the very-much-alive Peter 
Pettigrew! (Hm. Peter grew petty?)
