As for the humor:
One of my favorite jokes was in GoF when Voldie tells Wormtail that his task 
would be something that most of his followers would give their right hand to 
perform. Only funny on the second reading.

Cassie:

> What happened to Pettigrew's wand after he transformed?

I assumed that much like robes it stays with the person when they transform.

Judy (Again):

That was my best guess too, but why has no one in the books questioned that?
