Christmas hols in PS/SS, the likelihood of her hopping on the
internet and typing in Flamel's name and getting anything - evenif
she was trying for a bizarre longshout, would've been anachronistic,
as in 1991, the internet as we know it did not exist. Really, iirc,
the penetration of the internet in the uk only vaguely resembles what
it is now in 1995 or even 1997 - and 95 is where we are now, at the
end of GoF.

I was just about the first person I knew (even before the school) to
have computers\CD players\the internet as my Dad has worked with
the "think-boxes" since he left University in the sixties.

We didn't have anything resembling the internet until at least 1995\6
(I fail to recall exactly). And that was a seriously cut-down
version, not even much help with 16yo history projects (I knew more
than the sites).

Hermione's parents are dentists and Harry's are drill factory
people. I doublt they would be in the first wave.

However - as the playstation incedent shows - we don't *really* know
when these are set. In fact what we have is an internally consistant
floating chronology which we try to pin to the "real" one with very
scetchy data\details (synchretisms). (Dianna's death would be
relevant to Petunia for sure, I don't think it will be mentioned
though)

So if we assume the 1992 date for the PS\SS then the internet is a
bit previous, also why would Wizarding figures appear on it. If you
typed in "Dumbledore" or "Hogwarts" or "Voldemort" you wouldn't get
anything (in their world - because we wouldn't in our world without
the books) as they are Wizarding figures and the internet is Muggle
based. These are all far more famouse figures than Flannel.

A bientot,

James
