Wowee.  That was a long post, and interesting.  Slytherin's character 
was never something I questioned before, something I just took for 
granted.  But, as we've learned, taking things for granted can be a 
mistake.  (like you said, who would've thought Scabbers would be 
Peter Pettigrew?)  I don't know if I, in my gut, believe that, but I 
think you've made a very convincing case.  At this point, we have no 
reason to think that your theory is definitely true, but really, I 
see no concrete reason NOT to believe it.  Only time will tell... I 
just wanted to commend you on your innovative thinking.  What else 
can we do but keep examining things at every angle until Book 5 comes 
out?
