Not necessarily.  Remember, if you want to get down to it, it only takes one
really good happy memory to produce a Patronus.  Lupin told Harry to pick
ONE memory and focus on it.  Maybe having fewer to choose from even helped
him to focus more clearly.  It would help explain why he was able to master
the Patronus Charm when some fully trained wizards have trouble with it.

I agree that there is probably an additional reason that we don't know of.
The dementor thing was simply the closest I could get.  For now.  The blood
relative thing never worked for me at all.  Surely a family such as the
Weasleys would've taken him in years back.  But obviously Dumbledore didn't
want him raised in the wizarding world, and I guess an orphanage wouldn't
cut it.  There's got to be something that the Dursleys still have to
contribute, despise them as I do!
