Good, the omniscient Dumbledore theory is gone. Didn't like it anyway.

Well, they'd go after him now, but for the first 13 years after baby
Harry beat V-Mort, none of the DE's would have bothered. Pettigrew,
as Scabbers, didn't try to kill Harry even though he had numerous
chances because he saw no benefit to risking his life for a boss who
was beaten by a baby and might well be dead.
Whatever else Lucius Malfoy (who could be the de facto leader of the
DEs when V-Mort is gone) is, he's not stupid. Why mess with Harry
Potter if the Big Guy isn't there?
Seems like the safest place for Harry is to stay at Hogwarts year-
round, but that would be a nightmare to write for JKR.
I realize that outside influences -- the use of myth, the difficulty
of writing year-round Hogwarts stories, the need to keep the
juxtaposition of the Dursleys and Hogwarts -- have a lot to do with
dictating that Harry stay with the Dursleys.
BUT... I want a story reason for it. I want to hear why the
protection offered at the Dursleys is so powerful.
Because that's what we're talking about. Whatever the Durselys offer
is so powerful that it's worth Harry being emotionally and physically
abused. I want to know why Dumbledore couldn't find something equally
as powerful in a better living condition.
