ARTICLE (which highly annoyed me *too*): ***"Meals are served by servants in
the Great Hall"***
ROSIE: ***No they aren't, otherwise everyone would know house elves worked at
Hogwarts.***
PORPHYRIA: ***Yes they are. The house-elves make all the food in the kitchens
and magically transport it (banish it I suppose) to the Dining Hall. Remember
how the kitchens had the same four tables laid out just like the Dining Hall?
I got the impression they set it all out in the same pattern and then
magically moved it up one floor. Adams point that servants do the work at
Hogwarts stands; that's exactly why Hermione got all upset about the use of
elf labor at school.***
Nah, I am going to have to go with Rosie's assessment here. There are no
servants *in* the Great Hall. This article's intent was to point out how
posh Hogwarts seems to be. A school for the uppercrust and so on. Sit back
and read the statement "Meals are served by servants in the Great Hall".
That gives images of liveried waiters on beck and call to the students. But
indeed, the opposite is true. No servants are in evidence in the Great Hall,
more than likely so students do not become too stuck on the high life and
begin ordering the servants around. Like the Malfoy's obviously do at home.
