Okay, I want to cash in all my gay-affirming chips
here and say that I found it pretty funny. I picked
up on the stereotype (it didn't hurt that I was
listening to Jim Dale, who gave her a fairly butch
voice) and thought it was one of those sly little
jokes aimed at adults, like Aberforth and his goat. I
also seem to be the only person in the fandom who
thinks JKR is telling us Grubbly-Plank has never known
the love of a man, so to speak, as it is pointed out
that unicorns are very difficult to catch and lovers
of folklore know who can catch them: only virgin
women. She's a stereotype, and if G-P were around for
long and were really unpleasant I'd balk, but as a
one-off joke I liked it.
Hoping I don't get beat up by any lesbians, who, as we
all know, are all 6 feet tall with iron hair and iron
fists,
Amy Z
