Question 1:  "... Of course, his birthdays were never exactly fun - last year, the Dursleys had given him a coat hanger and a pair of Uncle Vernon's old socks. Still you weren't eleven every day" (p. 43)

Question 2: " ... He'd never been more nervous, never, not even when he'd had to take a school report home to the Dursleys saying that he'd somehow turned his teacher's wig blue. ..." (p. 115)

Managed to remember where they were before looking up the quotes. Both are from the hardback US edition.
