I think there may be a muggle-repellent spell on the trunk or a
antimuggle-enchanted lock on it. After all, the students do have to go
through a muggle area of King's Cross to get to the magical platforf - what
if they have to leave the trunk unattended? On the other hand... do we know
where Harry got his trunk? I didn't notice anything about him buying one in
Diagon Alley. Did the Dursleys actually give him one?!
