As you probrably surmised, I was really struggling to ask my question in a
way that could be understood, and I guess I failed badly. :)
Yes, I am aware that Harry is now experiencing symptoms of puberty. The
question I guess I was trying to ask is: Will Harry be able to see
girls/women as being both sexual AND nonsexual (for lack of a better
term)? As far as I can tell, his reactions to the females around him are
pretty much either/or.(To use some examples: he was never really aware of
Hermione as a *girl* until the Yule Ball; indeed, he didn't even recognise
her at first. The Veela really don't count, since they tend to have that
effect on all males old enough to be affected. AS for Cho and M. Rosmerta,
his reaction to them is pretty sexual, but to be fair he is also aware of
Cho's talent at Quidditch.) But it is true that he WOULDN'T really pay
attn to this issue until just now, while almost in the throes of
puberty... it's just that I am interested in seeing him come to understand
that women cannot really fulfill the 'ideal' and be just one or the other
(Virgin/Whore) and still be 'whole' women, especially since he never
really had a mother figure until now.
I really don't even know why I needed to ask this question; in hindsight,
it seems quite silly. It was one of those "it seemed like a good idea at
the time!" things. You will not hurt my feelings at all if you disregard
this topic and go back to your regular programming.
