Hello. :)
Okay...here goes the question...and *anybody* who has an answer,
please help me out here. :)
My son, Samuel, and I are reading Chamber of Secrets together.
Earlier in the week we read a part that made me stop and go, ...hmmmm....
It's where Lockhart is making Harry act out various scenes from his
book.
There is a scene where Lockhart is battling a werewolf. He says:
"--hold him down -- with my other, I put my wand to his throat -- I then
screwed up my remaining strength and performed the immensely complex
Homorphus Charm. <snip> The fur vanished -- the fangs shrank -- and he
turned back into a man. Simple, yet effective -- and another village
will remember me forever as the hero who delivered them from the
monthly terror of werewolf attacks."
Now, is it just me or does it look like Lockhart says he can cure a
werewolf? Okay, I grant you the man is making everything up, but, at
the end of the book--well?
The scene is where Harry goes to get Lockhart to help him rescue
Ginny and Lockhart is packing to leave. Harry yells at him and says of
his books: "You wrote them!" to which Lockhart replies: "My dear boy,
do use your common sense. My books wouldn?t have sold half as well if
people didn't think I'd done all those things. No one wants to read
about some ugly old Armenian warlock, even if he did save a village
from werewolves."
Is it me or does this hint that while Lockhart is an idiot who can?t
figure out which way to point a wand, *someone* out there did cure a
werewolf?
Thoughts? Thank you much much!
