That's a good connection there.  Add that with Ginny's obvious 
disappointment when she found out Harry didn't have a date yet for 
the ball, and it becomes pretty conclusive that Ginny has a crush on 
Harry.

In regards to the scene you mentioned, I always thought it was just 
that Parvati wanted Harry to ask her to the ball, which would explain 
why she was giggling and "blushing furiously" when Harry finally 
asked her.  It would also explain to me why despite being one of 
the "best-looking girls of the year" (according to Dean anyway), she 
still hadn't had a date by that late point.  Maybe she was waiting 
for Harry to ask her?
