I'm not so sure about that.  In Chapter 16, Through the Trapdoor:

"Harry, relax, Hermione's right, the Stone's safe as long as
Dumbledore's around. Anyway, we've never had any proof Snape found out
how to get past Fluffy. He nearly had his leg ripped off once, he's
not
going to try it again in a hurry. And Neville will play Quidditch for
England before Hagrid lets Dumbledore down."

There are other ways to let Dumbledore down and Hagrid will have other
opportunities.  My personal prediction is that both Harry and Neville
will be on the World Cup team in book 7, the summer Harry turns 18
(there's Two summers in book 7).
