In response to the "Fleur as DADA?" vs. "Figg as DADA?" questions... I
think Arabella Figg is likely to be the new DADA teacher, if only
because Fleur is highly unqualified and there are no other females
(that we know of) to take the position. In the Triwizard competition,
Fleur showed that she was actually rather incapable of fighting off
Dark Creatures - in the underwater portion, she's deterred by a
Grindylow. I feel that, since Voldemort has risen an all, Dumbledore
will choose someone with more experience to fill the DADA role.
I'm not sure if it's specified whether the female DADA professor is in
the fifth year or just somewhere along the line, though. Does anyone
know?
However, I think it's a definite possibility that Fleur will come to
Hogwarts as a teacher, since she mentions it at the end of Book 4. I
think she might be called upon to act as Care of Magical Creatures
professor, since Hagrid is going off to talk to the Giants (okay,
exactly what he's supposed to be doing is still up to speculation, but
that's what I think he and Maxime will be doing), and will probably not
be able to teach, particularly if something... er... happens to him
while he's away (yes, I'm one of those who thinks that Hagrid's will be
the death that's "horrible to write"). Another position that might be
up for grabs is Potions, if Snape is off doing spy-y things or is
otherwise incapacitated.
Which brings me to another idea - has anyone thought that *Snape's*
might be the death that's horrible to write? He must be rather fun,
from an author's point of view, because he's so snarky and is
fabulously mean to Harry... coming up with ways for him to flip out
must be kinda cool... oh well, just a random thought.
