Why doesn't Voldie or Harry just get a new wand, or a 'backup' wand
if you like. I can't believe there is only one possible wand per
wizard. Another wand could conceiveably even be a better match for
the wizard -- unless we're to believe that out of the thousands and
thousands of wands possible, Olivander finds them the 'best possible'
one after a couple tries. I don't believe that -- otherwise why were
early choices (for Harry at least) so wrong?

I'm also wondering if Ron's power is significantly increased by his
new wand. His old hand-me-down wand could hardly have been a great
choice for him.

Last, on the use of not-perfectly-matched wands, doesn't one of the
books mention a store that sells used wands, potion-stained robes,
etc?

laur,
wondering if using two near-identical wands, one in each hand, would
amplify power, or just put out half per wand.
