Now this is pathetic, responding to my own post.

Actually, just a clarification.

It occurred to me, upon re-reading this, that I left out something. By
saying that Snape's task depends on which of those missing DEs he was, I
meant that Snape and Dumbledore surely know the circumstances of Snape's
leave-taking of Voldemort. They will have been able to tailor their
obviously pre-planned Task to this, basing it on an educated guess as to
Voldemort's perceptions of those circumstances.

Okay, clarification done.
