Well, one thing to remember is that while they were cheering because Slytherin lost, it wasn't entirely because of disliking Slytherin, though I'm sure that was a factor. Another big factor was that Slytherin had won for the last six years in a row. After a six year winning streak, no matter what house it is, the other houses are going to be glad to see another house get the cup.
Also, the fact that Slytherin won six years in a row would tend to indicate both that Dumbledore isn't too biased in Griffindors favor (somewhat, but not too strongly), and that, to actually win the points, there must be more then we see from Harry's perspective to Slythetin.
