I believe that Hermione is younger than Harry and Ron. I, too, was born on
September 19, and started first grade when I still 5, and started college
when I was 17. According to my parents, the primary school made an exception
based on the fact I was already reading (had been since the age of 3) and
the school felt that I was ready to take on the work. Hermione's one pretty
smart girl, and I suspect they figured since she only missed the traditional
starting age by a few weeks, that it was best to bring her on in to
Hogwarts.
