Lilies are also closely associated with Easter, which is the festival 
of rebirth and salvation--which ties in with Lily as a martyr, and 
Harry being protected as a result of her sacrifice.

As I recall, the lotus in Eastern symbolism is a sign of life and/or 
wisdom.  Depending on how it appears in Hindu art, it can have 
several meanings.

I'm going to have to check my Hamilton on this, but I think the 
myrtle was also the sacred tree of Aphrodite...I could be wrong here.
