Not as far as I remember... It was her US publishers, Scholastic, which
made the changes if I'm right. The same as how the publishers in other
countries made their various translations. Publishers seem to have some
sort of right to edit a book if they feel it's necessary, even though
it's clearly not. I'm happy that, for once, living on this side of the
pond ensures we don't get bastardized crap that passes itself off as the
original. It's *much* better to read the books how they were intended.
