That's the best explanation of the 'Gleam in eye' thing I have heard 
so far. It makes sense. I never really thought that it had anything 
to do with Dumbledore being evil or anything, because after all, it 
wouldn't be a very good book (and kind of pointless) if every 
character exept Harry was really Voldermorts spy. 

The good outweighs the bad in everything anyway, so the books 
certainly need that balance.
