Not to mention that it's appropriate for brash young Ron to adopt the piece
that I think of as being the most 'offense oriented' of them all, with the
ability to cleverly fork multiple pieces with threat of capture, forcing the
opponent to decide which piece is worth more to him or her. It's one of the
most strategically useful pieces on the board, IMHO.
Potentially more interesting are the places where he puts Harry and
Hermione. Harry takes the bishop's role. Discounting the relevance to the
game itself, the bishop makes me think of purity of purpose and perhaps a
connection to something of a greater power. And, well, Hermione as the rook
only makes sense, she's the anchor of their little triad, resolutely trying
to keep their feet on the ground when they get far-fetched ideas. (Perhaps
even the rock to which Ron's heart is anchored, but I'll get off my R/H
soapbox now...)
