I don't know about the whole 'if Voldemort dies, they all will, too' portion 
of your theory, but I do like that the Dark Mark is more than just a gang 
tattoo.

Suppose, for example, that the idea of being a Death Eater is that you have 
indeed offered to 'eat' a portion of Voldemort's 'death.' Wouldn't this give 
us a very good reason that the rebounded AK that should have killed Harry 
didn't entirely kill LV? A portion of that power was siphoned off to each of 
his most loyal, inner circle, and he just lost his body without actually 
being destroyed.
