I've got a few nagging questions that I'd appreciate some opinions on.

How does Tom Riddle know about his mother? How does he know she's a 
witch? How does he know his middle name is that of his maternal 
grandfather?

Does he know any of this before he comes to Hogwarts or does he learn 
about it later?
