I'll give the same argument here that I've made there.
Crookshanks is a *boy* cat!  As far as I have seen,
there is no evidence that transfiguration also results
in a sex change.

There has been one transgender transfiguration.  That
was between the two Crouches using polyjuice, not
animagic.  I don't know enough about the theory of
magic to know whether the process of becoming an
animagi has anything in common with the use of
polyjuice to transform.  But, it is a common
speculation that Hermione would be a cat, so I'm just
extrapolating that idea a little further.
