I believe that Hagrid was in Gryffindor because he seems to have a good moral compass. IMO he has shown bravery, left without parents at age 12, willing to take on any task for Dumbledore. Spottydog

I have always liked Hagrid too! There is just one thing that has bothered me about him- he doesn't seem brave enough to be a Gryffindor! He is brave enough around his 'beasts' but then again, he's bigger than most of them are! How did he get in then?
