Dobby just wanted to be treated better. Remember in GoF how the Trio had gotten to the Kitchen and Dobby had mentioned his pay and free 
time?  Then he mentioned also that Dumbledore had offered him a whole lot more money as well as more off time, but Dobby actually took the 
lesser cause he does like serving, he just doesn't wanted to be treated badly.
