Bearing in mind some of the wilder and wierder theories proposed , I don't
think it's that far-fetched really.  If only unhappy peole become ghosts
James and Lily are candidates, having died an unhappy death.  If there is
protection in Privet Drive that surely Dumbledore would be right and, with
the reluctant agreement of James and Lily, only sensible to protect Harry as
much as he could.

I don't necessarily agree with the hypothesis.  However, like most theories,
it cannot be discounted yet................
