this was mentioned a couple days ago, but I think it must have gotten lost
in the shuffle. It's more than implied that Gryffindor has some reserves.
In SS 11, Lee Jordan, while commentating, describes Alicia Spinnet as "a
good friend of Oliver Wood's--last year only a reserve".
Perhaps the question is *why* isn't there a reserve Seeker? Surely they
could find someone in Gryffindor house who could play the roll when Harry
couldn't and do it adequately.
