Maybe Vernons whole problem with the wizarding World is another love story. :)  He fell in love with Lily, dated her sister to try to get to her, Lily met James at Hogwarts, got married, Vernon gets depressed, ends up marrying Petunia and becomes completely embittered cause the wizarding world smashed up his deams of having Lily. :)

Then again, maybe not. :)
