What constitutes HP cannon?

Everyone seems to be having so much fun with this, I have to chip in with my
two penn'th worth (very old Muggle money) - Americans may substitute two
cents.......

I had always assumed that canon is * what JKR wrote * (including the smaller
books) i.e. every Harry Potter word SHE wrote - no more no less, not the
film or any future one, although these should be taken into the wider body
of knowledge as overviewed so very well in the Lexicon. After all JKR wrote
the words in the books and that's what we all love to talk about - isn't
it????
