Do people really keep track of each other after they leave Hogwarts?  I 
always thought that it was kind of like Muggle High School - maybe you write 
a few e-mails, see them once in a while; but you're so busy embarking on your 
new life that you don't really think about the one you just left.  If Riddle 
had any friends, maybe he had told them of his plans.  That makes sense 
because then the only people who *would* ask questions already knew the 
answer.
