On a similar vein, I've also tended to think the last sentence would be about the absence of Harry's scar. Though it'd be a great psych-out if the scar talked about in the last sentence wasn't Harry's at all! 

"Feeling the slash running across her face, Hermione winced. 'I bet that'll leave a scar.'"
