Hermione seems to be the most level-headed (other than
Remus, ironically), her slapping Malfoy notwithstanding (she

I have noticed that while some people think it's sexist that
female characters like Hermione, McGonagall and Ginny often
freeze or dissolve in tears when they feel threatened, nobody's
said it's sexist that JKR's male characters are often too ready to
use their wands or fists.
