Very good question! I always understood his unnacceptance of the dementors
to be simply bc they offended his noble principles. The things that they
do, what they stand for, etc. Maybe he knows how they originated, and/or
has more knowledge of what they are capable of. It never occurred to me
that he, too, might actually have had some personal experiences with them.
