I associate DEs with primitive oral aggression (i.e., the first
phase the Freudian stage of development is the "oral") cannibalism
(e.g. the horrifying Goya painting of Saturn devouring his
children),and blasphemy (cf. Paul in I Corinthians 15:54, "Death is
swallowed up in victory,", etc.) And it makes a great rhyme for
filking!
