That would make sense. An awful lot of time was spent on the Put-Outer, too
much for it to simply be putting out lights. (by Dumbledore, in the book in
general, an even in <gasp> the thing that must not be named). There's bound
to be an easier way to put out a light than a Put-Outer. It must do
something to the light while it's inside it. He clicked it twelve times,
once for each light, to put out the lights. Then when he returned the
light, he did it in one click and all twelve balls of light sped back to
their lamp at once. I've always thought there must be more to it, for all
of this to be carefully pointed out to us.
