Not at all!
I have a traditional besom broom ( a 'witch's' broom) out in the garden shed. 
These days you wouldn't use it indoors, I agree, (though in the old says, 
when floors were flagged, or made of earth, there is no reason why not) but 
it's still perfectly servicable outside and is an alternative to a rake when 
it comes to sweeping up autumn leaves. So even today, they are sold and used 
as Muggle objects.
